Introduction to Pistol Shooting
What to bring to class
This course is designed to introduce students to the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. This is the perfect course for a new handgun owner. Through this course, the student will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol shooting fundamentals, and pistol shooting activities. It will also help prepare the student for participation in other NRA courses. Pistol ownership is not required; In fact, this is an ideal course for students seeking to purchase a pistol, but have not yet decided on the type and model best for them. This is also an excellent course for inexperienced shooters interested in obtaining a concealed carry weapons (CCW) permit and learning the skills needed to meet state-mandated range qualification scoring requirements. If you are a pistol owner, you are encouraged to bring your pistol with ammunition for the range portion of the course.
The course was originally going to be one hour long, half on the range and half in the classroom. Upon further reflection, considering the information we need to pass, we determined that the class could not be done in less that 2hrs. Our primary goal is to give you the minimum tools needed to assure you may safely handle and shoot firearms. This is not to say your training should end here. This should be thought of as a beginning point and to see if this is an area you want to pursue further.
Thing of drivers education; You are are under the care of a certified NRA Instructors to help make sure you don't run a red light. However, how many of you were truly prepared when you were issued your first drivers licence? We strongly suggest you take a more advanced class after this one, or learn under the guidance of a qualified range officer or professional. Many people think they know about firearms, but few really do.
This class is meets the requirement for Wisconsin Concealed Carry permit, however, we feel, more training is needed to safely carry a concealed firearm. We will offer the NRA Personal Protection Inside/Outside the home, in the near future.
AIf you will need a certificate for Wisconcin, please let the instrutor know. Wisconsin Concealed Carry permit is not the purpose, nor the curriculum of this class.
This course consists of both a classroom portion of approx 1 hour and range time of 1-1.5 hours.
The Introduction to Shooting course is 2.5hrs in duration. Tuition is $65. If you need a range gun and ammo add $25
